Fred's parents were Alfred Lauper (1873 - 1964), born in Germany and Anna Maria Katharina Graf born 1880 in Germany. He had siblings Alfred, Otto, Rose, and another whose name is unknown who died at about 1 yr. old.
In the 1930 federal census, Fred was 10 and living in Oyster Bay NY with his parents Alfred and Marie and attending school. Also in the household were his siblings Otto and Rose and brother in law Edward Lauper. Alfred was a manager in an office, Otto was a laborer on a farm, Rose was a clerk in a dry cleaning store, and Edward was an engraver in a photo shop.
On his WW2 draft card dated July 1 1941, Fred stated that he was white, 21, living in Malverne, Nassau, New York, working as a runner at Scientific Engraving Co., 406 W. 31 St, St., New York City, N. Y. and that his next of kin was Mr Edward Lange. He was 5' 11", weighed 121 lbs, and had brown eyes, brown hair, and a light complexion.
He married Oranea Renee Stathis in 1971 in Queens' New York City. Previously, he married Domenica Gallo in Queens NY on April 11, 1951.
Fred had children Fred (Jr), Elen, and Cyndi Lauper Thornton (singer, songwriter, actress and activist. (Note: Cyndi says that they have been estranged since her mother Catrine and Fred were divorced. See Fred Lauper: Obituary
In the 1950 federal census, Fred was 30, and living with his father in Queens NY. Alfred was 78 (he stated that he was born in Switzerland), wife Marie was 69, and son Fred was 30. Fred was working as a shipper. His father was working in clerical at the same company (Water company?)
