Giacomo "John" Le Ponto moved from Italy to the United States in 1899 when he was 39 years old, introducing the Le Ponto surname to Syracuse, New York.
Descendants of the Le Ponto family still reside in Syracuse. Giacomo married Carmela "Nellie" LaGranna, who immigrated to the United States from Italy in 1901. Together, they had five children who also made their home in the Syracuse area. One of his descendants was James J Leponto.
