According to his 1940 WW2 draft card, Meyer was living in Newark New Jersey and was employed by his father, He was 6 ft 3/4 inches, weighed 160 pounds, had a dark complexion, brown hair and brown eyes. His next of kin was his mother, Mrs Harry Lief.
Meyer, a veteran of World War II, enlisted as a Private on August 3 1942. In November of 1944, Meyer, who was then in the Air Force, was hospitalized for Nasopharyngitis, acute, "injured" in the line of duty. He was discharged from hospital to active duty the same month.
