Leroy Amos Leigey is the son of Thomas Aaron Leigey (1888-) and Violet E Rowles (1903-1978). He was born on December 11, 1921 in Pennsylvania USA.
He lived in Erie and Curwensville, PA. Leroy enlisted in the United States Army on October 28, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio. He joined the Branch Immaterial - Warrant Officers, USA, as part of the Selectees (Enlisted Men) component.
Liegey served in the Medical Department, General or Unspecified including Enlisted Man, during World War II. In August 1944, at the age of 22, he was admitted to a military hospital and diagnosed with hemorrhoids. . He was discharged from the military the following month in September of 1944 after completing two years of service.
However he re-enlisted on November 11, 1942, and served until March 22, 1946, a total of almost four years in the military.
After his time in service, in 1946, Leroy married Marjorie Jane Buckley (1921-1997) in Wood, West Virginia, United States. The couple lived in Lakewood, OH and had a son Kenneth R Leigey.
