Great grandpa, was the sweetest grumpiest old man I ever meet. He told me stories of his friends, while he served in ww2. He told me about sitting in the kitchen with a few others, Peeling potatoes. The red lights and sirens came on. Over the intercom a voice announced, " boys we are going to war! The japs just bomb pearal harbor!". He knew how to make fresh, from scratch apple pie. He loved his last dog. He loved his truck. He loved his wife and children. He was never one to not have a smile on his face, always. He had three chilrden with Dovie. Novella, Rita and Jackie, he died as an infant. Novella married one Hershel Petrey, with whom she had six children. Kenny, Linda, Mark, Nancy, luAnn and Scott. All went in to have thier own kids. Rita married and later divorced, but had three chilrden. Rita, Hubert and Fred. The boys had thier in chilren. Lil Rita actually was given asprin while she had the chicken pox and suffers from a rare occurrence in the body. No details. Just sat she is one of the few brilliant and sweet natured cousin anyone could ever ask for. Grandpa loved her and all the grandkids that followed. Grandpa always wore White t-shirt and blue jean overalls. Hat and jacket was only as needed. He was not afraid of dirt. The dirtier his hands were, the happier he was. He passed in the hospital, from pnemonia. His only living child, Rita was by his side. Novella had been murded heanously some years prior. He out lived Dovie for many more years. He died having loved, lost and found. His life was full of history. JFK, segregation, Martin Luther King, served in ww2!! The depression, moving from one country to another. Having learned two languages. This man could never be called boring. He had a story for every block you walked by. He remembered the train in the park, when it first was placed there. Seen and witnessed alot of history . He will not be forgotten.

Dovie was a 400lb diabetic. She became this way bc she loved her husband Ferdinand. He was German, she was Indian. He went to war, she learned to cook his German foods. She gave him two daughters(Rita & novella) And son(Jackie). Jackie unfortunately died as an infant. Rita had three chilrden. Rita, Hubert, and Fred. Novella had six children. Kenny, Linda, Mark, Nancy, Luanne, and Scott. All went on had thier own children. The night she passed, I was told by my great grandpa, she had heard an owl outside her window. She kept asking him, "please chase the owl away, it's here to take me away" Later that night, she passed away, with her best friend, Ferdinand Lingier, by her side. Grandma and Grandpa absolutely were the epitome on how you work at a marriage. They were not perfect. She wore the pants, he was the heart. They could tell you a time, of Enid, Oklahoma. When they could still see hills with out houses obstructing the view, when the first soda machine the incountered and neighbors were not so close. They had thier hard times. Death if Jackie truly killed thier joy for a long time. They did pull together to finish raising Novella and Rita. Made sure both were married. They retired during a time that none of this ssi and government shut down ever existed. They lived thru war. The great depression, Elvis, JFK, and the Beatles!! The entire 60's!!!
