I met a Priscilla Malling at a Unitarian youth club (LRY) camp session in July or August 1964 at De Benneville
Pines in Angeles Nat'l Forest in CA. The chronology of
this listing is perfect; this girl's DOB was given as July 4th 1948 and she was 16 when I met her. I was born in 1946 and had turned 18 on June 18th 1964. She was about 5' 2" with really neat curly brown hair and soft brown eyes which melted my heart; she was really the
sweetest person I met at these camps (this was my 3rd
summer). Instead of dumping me after 1 or 2 days like
everybody i met at camp had done in the past, Prissi
hung out with me the whole week and was by my side
almost constantly from breakfast till we went back to our
cabins to go to bed (around 11PM). I took a big stack of
45 records and a record player and we (and about 30
or 40 other people) would dance in the lodge after din-ner for about 3 or 4 hours. When they kicked us out of the lodge at around 11PM I walked with her to her cab-
in. However I never kissed her or held her hand; I was
fearful that if I acted a little too bold I'd scare her off. I
so wanted to kiss her the first day we met to thank her
for being so sweet to me.
At the time I knew her this Priscilla Malling lived in Alta-
dena, CA with her father. I don't know whether he was
divorced, separated or widowed or what his first name
was. I met him when I went to visit her about a month
later; he really seemed to like me. This time we did kiss;
she gave me a nice kiss (lasted 5 or 6 seconds at least)
and held me tight while dancing to "Wishin' and Hopin".
I invited her to come visit me and she wrote back a few
weeks later that she was moving (out to Arcadia, which
was only about 30 miles away from Altadena). I never
saw or heard from her again. Now 50 years later I been
reminiscing this summer of 64 week at De Benneville
with Priscilla Malling ---and wondering WHAT IF. She is
truly THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY; really the sweetest
person I ever met and was the closest to being some-
one I'd love to spend the rest of my life with. Anyway
at the least, although nothing ever transpired from this
brief encounter I feel thankful that she had been in my
life. Again I know this is a million to one shot that this one is THE Priscilla Malling I knew --but the birth year
is EXACT. I was really heartbroken to read she died
in March,1971 at the tender age of 23
