Santo Marcellari is the son of Domenic Marcellari (born 1868) and Mary Muzzio (born 18867). He was the youngest in his family with older siblings Serifino, Milton, Madalina, and Florenes Marcellari. He registered for the draft on October 16, 1940, in Bergenfield, Bergen, New Jersey, at the age of 30. He was then drafted into the United States Army on July 1, 1942, in Newark, New Jersey, with a military serial number of 32387915. Santo was assigned to the Branch Immaterial - Warrant Officers, USA and entered the service as a Private in the Selectees (Enlisted Men) of the Army. On July 15, 1942, Santo officially enlisted in the Army and was assigned to Company A 716th Military Police Battalion. Santo served in this unit until his honorable discharge on October 12, 1945, after serving for three years during World War II. Santo was married to Frances R. Miller Marcellari (1917-2003).
