is the history of the clan in Scotland. After the decimation of the Davidson Clan in Scotland, one son was said to have had one very hearty wife and thirteen children who were/are the original ancestors of the Davidson's and McDeavitt's today.
Of the thirteen children, many immigrated to Ireland due to the fact that the Clan rivalries within Scotland threatened their family.
Upon moving to Ireland, the Gaelic translation from Davidson became McDeavitt. From there they immigrated the world over and are still in Ireland today.

Daniel MCDEAVITT, a native of Ireland, moved from Newcastle, Del., to Greensburg, PA; Butler County, in 1797. He brought his goods upon pack-horses, his family, consisting of his wife and three children, accompanying him; also the MONTOOTH family (which settled in Franklin Township), making thirteen in the party. Mrs MCDEAVITT rode horseback, carrying her youngest child, James, while Catharine, aged nine years, and Henry, aged seven, drove two cows. They arrived in PA on the 27th of April, 1797.
