Edward G. Means, Jr., of Sellersville, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2019, at his residence. He was 72.
He was the beloved husband of Dolores F. (Brown) Means for 41 years until her death in 2017.
Born in Doylestown, he was the son of the late Edward G. Means, Sr. and the late Eleanor (Godlewski) Means Marsteller. Ed was a 1964 graduate of Lansdale Catholic High School.
A self-employed masonry and builder contractor, Mr. Means had spent his professional career building homes.
He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville.
An avid train collector, Ed was also a true outdoorsman, especially enjoying fishing, hunting, and camping. He also liked to cook, preparing his favorite Italian foods, especially spaghetti and meatballs. Ed’s constant companion was his pal, “Toots,” his devoted Bichon Frise.
Mr. Means is survived by his children, Lori Ann Bean, of Birdsboro, Lee Gehman, of Delaware, Mark Gehman and his wife, Amy, of Telford, Gregg Gehman, of Delaware, Charles E. Means and his husband, Rob Miketa, of New York, NY, Edward G. Means III, of Harleysville; eight grandchildren, Amber Lynne, Gregg Jr., Elizabeth, Will, Grant, Isaac, Julia, and Melody; a brother, David J. Means, of Sellersville; an aunt, Lenore Souder, of Perkasie; and “Toots.”

FRANCES LATER MOVED TO OMAHA, NEB/ EMPLOYED AS A COOK AT THE GERMAN AMERICAN NURSING HOME, WHERE SHE MET RICHARD HICKMAN ALSO AN EMPLOYEE. THEY WERE MARRIED APRIL 20 1961. AFTER RETIREMENT THEY MOVED TO ULYSSES, NEB. THEY SPENT 18 HAPPY YEARS RAISING GOATS, CHICKENS, AND GARDENS AS THEIR HOBBIES. RICHARD PASSED AWAY 1979.
SHE MADE HER HOME IN SIDNEY IOWA SINCE 1981. MAINTAINING HER OWN HOME UNTIL ENTERING THE HOSPITAL ON FEB 16 1993.
