Name Origin

The name Miskar comes from the area of ​​former Czechoslovakia, which is now separated into the Czech Republic and Slovakia. It comes from the Czech and Slovak language and is originally a job title. Miskar means castrator; these were itinerant craftsmen who went from farm to farm and castrated animals. Mainly pigs, cattle, horses and sheep. Corresponding names in German are Nonnenmacher, Berschneider or Bierschneider and in south-west Germany also Hailer (=healer) because animals were often healed from some contaminations or diseases by these men. They may have been the first ancestors of today's veterinarians.
