History

The first data about Turopolje (Croatia) come from the year 1225, when Emperor Bela III included the brothers Budina, Ivan and Levča from Turopolje among the imperial servants, i.e. ennobled them and all their descendants. The Mikšič (Mixich) family comes from Levča. All the noble privileges of the year 1225 have been sacredly guarded for hundreds of years and brought before every official court to be recognized and strengthened. Thus, for example, on October 15, 1466, Emperor Matias Corvin recognizes and strengthens all the rights and privileges of Fabian Mikšič. Emperor Szigismund issues noble privileges to the Mikšič family in 1412. These privileges were then reinforced by Emperor Rudolf in 1582 and Ferdinand III in 1646... and so on.
The first documentary attestation about Donji Lukavec is from 1363, with the name "Lokauč" (Lokauch). Stoiko son of Devan and Mikec son of Mikša from Lukavec are then specified. The name of Donji Lukavec is used for the first time in 1412.
Mikec son of Mikša, had Nikola, and he had Gjura. Nikola already bears the surname of Mikšič and he can be considered as the first of the remarkable family from Turopolje with the name of Mikšič and coming from the Levča (generatio Lewcha) family.
