Rose Hannah Hartland (Packam) Presley 1913 - 1999 Melbourne, Australia

Rose Hannah Hartland Packham Presley (Peggy) as my grandmother and only issue of William and Elsie Packham. William Packham was killed in action in WW1 on 20 October 2014. Three years later Elsie (widowed) married Sidney Harry Maggs and emigrated to Australia residing in West Brunswick. Peggy was the eldest of 10 children. She was devoted to her mother Elsie. She had the most traumatic yet incredible life and I wish I knew her better. I have taken such interest in her history and loved her so dearly. She was tough and from strong stock. She lost her first born son Billy at age 17 from complications relating to a hole in the heart. From what I understand women back then did not attend funerals. My mother was only 3 at the time of her eldest brothers death and I have a locket of Peggy's which carries Billy's photo. My daugther carries her name Rose and should I have any daughters in the future she will be named Elsie Hannah. I still miss my nana and think about her daily. I know she is still with us and visits us from time to time. Love you nana. xxx
