Our real German name "Plikert", was modified into "Plikerd" and "Plackard". Sometime near the year 1770, two young boys fired by visions of the new world, left Antwerp, Holland, hiding themselves on board a sailing vessel until well out to sea. On arrival at Philadelphia the captain bound them out for three years to pay their passage. They were distillers by trade and while at work, one of them was accidentally scalded to death. The other Christian by name, is the one from whom we trace our ancestry. After the close of the war Christian married in Philadelphia, a woman named Walters, and together they emigrated westward and settled at Camp Washington, the site of the present city of Cincinnati, Ohio. Ten children grew to maturity, nine of whom married and migrated as nearly as we can learn as follows. John took the name "Plikerd" and moved near Delphos, Ohio in 1830. Henry took the name as we have it, "Plackard", and located near Rockport, IN, in 1845. Jacob our immediae ancester, married Leanore Littleton, Christmas 1829, and moved to Clermont county, Ohio. Jacob Plackard, our immediate ancestor, was born in 1807. To his marriage to Leanore Littleton was born six sons and two daughters who lived to maturity. John Plackard had John Jr. Plackard who married Viola Fee. They had a son, John Marshall Plackard. John Marshall Plackard had Don Plackard. Don Plackard and Betty Plackard had Dennis, Dennis had Jodi, Jodi had ME!!!!!! :)
