Early Plankintons

James H. Plankinton was a soldier in the United States Civil War. Jame's middle name was Henry but he also went by the name of Harry Plankington. He married a woman by the name of Minnie who was a native of Vermont as were her parents. James and Minnie (aka Minia, Merinda and Mary)Colburn were probably married in Massachusetts but are on the 1870 Census in Parkersburg WV. The child Cora F with them is not their biological daughter but they raise her as their own. She is the person that connects us with this family. Carrie F. Plankington married John Charles Broderson after Minnie Plankington died. James and Carrie are on the 1880 census Arcata, Humbolt, CA. They came to CA as early as 1875 because they are on the California Great Register. James went to live with his brother Alfred after 1880. I have traced James all the way to the 1910 Census and then he was deceased in 1911. Unraveling the truth to family stories has brought me to these truths. James is the son of Eli and Catherine Plankington. The name Eli was passed down in our family history.
