OBITUARY.
Mr. Charles Pressley, an old resident of Katandra died in the
Mooroopna hospital, at the age of 73 years. The deceased
was a native of Scotland, the son of a Church of England
minister, in an Aberdeen shire town, was at one time manager
of the Bank of Scotland in his native place. After coming to
Victoria, he carried on farming at Bundalong, for some years,
but in his latter days he lived in retirement with his daughter
Mrs. W. Prideaux, at Katandra. He lost two sons in the war,
and is survived by one son, Mr. W. Pressley of Wangaratta
and three daughters.
Thr remains were interred in the Church of England Cemetery
at Katandra, last Monday, the remains being followed to
the grave by a large number of friends. The prayers at the
graveside were read by the Rev. J. K. Taylor, Rector of
St. Lukes, Dookie.

OUR SOLDIERS COLUMN
Mr. Charles Pressley , of Peechalba, has received
word of the death of his brother Pte. Leslie Pressley,
who was killed in action in France on August 14th last.
He is a son of Mr. C. Pressley sen., Katandra, and was
29 years of age. Pte. Leslie enlisted from Queensland
about three years ago, and was in hospital for four
months with trench feet, later on being admitted
suffering from wounds. He fought in several of the big
engagements in which the Australians took part.
The late Pte. Leslie was well known in Peechalba.
One brother Pte. William Pressley, was killed in action
in September last year, and another brother George is
still on active service. Two brothers reside in Queensland,
one acting as manager of the property owned by him and
two of the brothers who went to the war and have paid
the supreme sacrifice .
Sisters of deceased are Mrs W. Prideaux, Shepparton,
Mrs. A. Davidson, Yarrawonga.
