Nationality & Ethnicity

Although it is difficult to establish country of origin for certain, a lot of the people named Ramia say that they are originally from Lebanon. There is a village in the south of Lebanon (close to the Israeli border) named Ramiye that is also spelled Ramia on some road signs. It is very near the United Nations Line. On Google maps a photo of a blue road sign depicting "Welcome to Ramia" can be found.
  Some research done by the Ramias from Spain indicate that it is a Semitic name. In fact in the Old Testament of the Christian Bible (in different translations) there appears a Ramia (also spelled Ramiah) in the book of Esdras Chaper 10 verse 25. There, Ramia is supposed to be from the tribe of Israel.
