Name Origin

Most of us with the surname Raubeson in our family trees, had thought it originated with the man who was born as Lazar M. Cahn aka Earle Vance Victor Raubeson. He also went by the nick name of Peter the Plumber. He was married to Marie Frances Gertrude Cameron Raubeson (born 03 March 1893, died about 1953?)

*Birth 8 Feb 1891 in Auxier, Floyd, Kentucky, United States. (There are two different birth dates out there for him however due to his name change, there are two birth documents. The date here is the most commonly used on the various family trees out on the web.)

Death 10 Feb 1961 in New Haven, New Haven, Connecticut, United States.

From what I have been able to discover from a growing amount of documents from Ancestry and other sites. My great grandfather borrowed the name from another Southern family called Raubeson around 1917. All Raubeson's know the reason behind the name change. But no one knows for certain how he came up with the name or the spelling of it.

I have discovered documents which locates this other Raubeson family in parts of Alabama and Florida. These Raubeson's have no connection to the modern-day Raubesons who can trace the name back to this one man back in 1917. Theses documents that I have uncovered date from 1790 to 1890. Thus before any modern-day Raubeson's was born or married into the family.
