Family Reunion in Virginia Beach VA around 1988: I, Richard, searched for my mother around 1986. I found her in Des Moines and called her. She was so happy that I found her. She said she always knew that it would be me who found her. Quickly I located the most of my siblings except for Mike, and Denise, and we arranged to have a family reunion at James place in Virginia. Laura was living with James, who was going by his middle name of Richard due to his adopted brother being named Jamie. Laura had a little girl (about 5yrs old at the time) named Keira(? I think). We spent about a week together getting to know each other. My mother was a sweet, fun, jovial, laughing person who was full of life. Mom had headed back to IA, and us siblings went to Busch Gardens and Colonial Williamsburg I think in a hot July 4th of perhaps 1988? I recorded on HI-8camera , bought after my mother left for IA, much of the events but unfortunately it was after my mother left.

When she returned to Iowa we only spoke a few times on the phone usually if not always with me initiating the call.

She did thank me whole heartedly for bringing her children back to her. She said that I had no idea what it meant to her. Unfortunately, she passed before we could arrange another reunion. Everyone, except Cindy and Michael made it to her funeral. I cried uncontrollably at times while speaking of her at her funeral. I only wish I could have gotten to know my mother more.
