Summary

The surname Satnes is of Norwegian origin. In Nirway, it was spelled Setnes, but wS changed to Satnes, when my grandfather, Jens Edward Grung Satnes (born 2/7/1898) came to America in about the 1920's. He also had siblings, some of whom immigrated to the U S as well. I don't know the names of all siblings, and not sure which of them immigrated to the U S , but I do know he had brothers named Ivar, Olaf, Ingersoll (I think) Nd. Sister named Karen. My great grandparents' names were Johan and Patrine (or possibly Katrina). My grandfather, Jens Satnes, married Olga Belgliot Bjurkestrand (not sure if spelling is correct). They had 3 sons, all 3 having the same exact name of Johan Torger Satnes. The first child was stillborn, the second one wS accidentally ran over by an ice delivery truck (in Chucago, 1930's), and my dad Johan, was born in Brooklyn, NY on 4/19/1938. My dad, Johan, Married Rita Mae Cox on 10/14/1960. They had 2 chikdren: John Dwayne Satnes, and Laura Kaye Satnes (myself). This is the knowledge I have about this name.
