Name Origin

In my family, we were told that Schnelzer was derived from the German language with a rough translation meaning "quick person" or "hurry up".  I know that my family's geneology came from the Austrian area roughly around the beginning of Hitler's political career.  They made the journey to the United States.  My grandfather, John Schnelzer died at a rather young age, and I unfortunately being only 5 or 6 do not recall too much.  I know that my grandmother is still alive and just celebrated her 100th birthday in March of 2013, surrounded by her loving family and her still living son and daughter.  My father took great pride in his family name, and at the beginning of the internet revolution, we began looking for others, but it wasn't until after his passing that it seemed more "Schnelzer's" seemed to come out of the woodwork.  However, very little is known by me specifically about timing of the arrival of our family's ancestors into the United States, or anyone that may have been related that may have chosen to stay in the Austrian border area.
