Lauren E. Sechriest (September 19, 1939 - July 20, 2014)
Lauren E. Sechriest, age 74, died on July 20, 2014 after a long, hard fought battle against Parkinson's.
He was born in Ensley, Alabama, on September 19, 1939. Lauren graduated from Ensley High School and from the University of Alabama with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity. After graduation, he moved to Texas where he worked for Ling-TEMCO-Vought (LTV), a defense contracting company, until February 13, 1971, when he married and moved back to Birmingham and began working for Southern company until he retired.
Lauren was a quiet, unassuming man who was always loyal and steadfast. He often did for others without fanfare, never telling anyone what he had done.
Lauren was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Carrie Sechriest, and his son Craig Sechriest.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Kathy (Kathleen Comes) Sechriest.
Graveside services will be on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., at Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham, Alabama.
