Name Origin

The surname Sekhon was the name of a Rajput called "Sekhnath Parmar" from a Rajput clan. He migrated from Rajasthan to Punjab, according to one version. Some king wanted to marry his daughter.Sekhnath and his fellow villagers were against it, so they planned a plot: they requested the King not to bring a large barrat because of their poor economic condition and the king readily agreed to it. He came with a small group of soldiers. Sekhnath and his friends started killing them. The king however escaped. The whole vilage had to run from there because of the King's anger and Sekhnath migrated to the Punjab. People in Punjab started calling him Shekhoo,  Shekhnoo, etc and slowly it refined into Sekhon with the British raj. People living in  a village, Borewal in the Mansa district, are all Sekhon. Some of them have migrated to Dakha in the Ludhiana district
