Sekumade mean, keep the crown in a safe place. The Akarigbo of Remo who came from Oyo empire to Remo had 8 children and one of the sons is Sekumade. The name originated from ikorodu through one of the sons of akarigbo (Sekumade). He was a farmer and went for farming from Remo to ikorodu area of ipakodo and decided to leave there and make there a home. During the egba- ikorudu war in 1835, One of his son followed the warriors to Abeokuta after the war and became Afobaje because of his influence as he was known as a prince. He started a new life in Abeokuta and became part of the kingdom.
