He lived in Jenner, Somerset, Pennsylvania and Johnstown, Cambria, Pennsylvania. Ludwig enlisted into the US Military on July 13, 1942 in Altoona Pennsylvania. He served in the US Army from July 13, 1942 until May 10, 1944.
