The Shams family lived in a village called Majdal Shams in Jolan,Syria between 900 and 1400 AD.  The name of the village means the "Glory of Shams family" and there are still three huge houses for the Shams family in Majdal. The Sham family are now living  in Hasbay, Lebanon. Shams family is a Druze family (a Islam sect).

Over decades, the Shams family has moved around to different countries but the original family is now living in Lebanon and has been in Hasbaya, Lebanon  for more than 500 years. As proof of this information, the Shams house is located in Hasbaya, Lebanon because the Shams family took the city as the capital of their occupied area (in Lebanon) during the  Ottoman Empire. According to one branch of the Shams family, the family can be Syrian, Lebanese, and/or Iraqui.  This branch of the family is Druze, an Islamic sect that incorporates elements of Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam), Gnosticism, Neoplatonism, and other philosophies.
