Frank William Sheppe was born on October 28, 1920 in Washington, District of Columbia, USA to parents Jewett Hamilton Sheppe (1876-1960) and Mary Frances McKenney (1887-1950). He had siblings Howard Hamilton Sheppe (1909-1991), Ethel Lynn Sheppe (1912-2005), and Mary Kathleen Sheppe (1914-1993).
Frank enlisted in the US Army on July 9, 1942, at Fort Myer, Virginia. He had completed four years of college education and worked as a paymaster, payroll clerk, and timekeeper in his civil occupation.
He was assigned the rank of Private and was part of the Selectees (Enlisted Men) component, in the Branch Immaterial - Warrant Officers, USA.
Frank's service began on July 8, 1942, and he served until June 30, 1974, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. During his 32 years of service, Frank served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and his service record shows that he was a dedicated and committed member of the military.
