Alex Skrobarczyk became a very successful rice farmer ( was told he farmed 1000 acres once). His banker told him one day that he should Americanize his name so he changed the ending (czyk) to (cek). This was in the town of Cuero, Tx. His brother John also changed his name, as did others. source Eugene Skrobarcek ( as told to him by his Dad, Vincent). His oldest son, Adolph had already left the household so his decendents still bear the original spelling of Skrobarczyk.I might add that the shiplist when they emigrated spelled the name Skrabarczyk.

History

Skrobarczyk means single-tree finisher. As the single-tree to pull a wagon and to which animals are hitched to it. So you might say that this family comes from a group of mechanics. It was said that Alex's Dad, John< could put a steel wheel ,once made into a furnace and then immediately install onto the wooden wheel and it always fit perfectly.
