Often the various Swier family members would describe their line or branch in the family (for example) saying, "I am Troy of Tom of Pete of Walt of Piet of Wouter".  In this case, Wouter (Holland) was the father of 24 children by 3 different wives, Piet (Holland-USA) had 14 children, Walt (1st Gen. USA) had 13, Pete (2nd Gen, USA) had 4, Tom (3rd Gen. USA) had 3. and Troy had 8.  Many of the first families started in agriculture and later in other professions (Law, medicine, military, business, etc).
