This family name is a name of a small town of nearly 40 to 50 houses found in the Soro- Gbema chiefdom Pujehun District along the Atlantic Ocean, in the Southern Region of the Republic of Sierra Leone, very close to the Liberian border in West Africa. I was born in this town about 50 years ago. The town stiil exists unto this day,carrying the same name ,same pronounciation. We stiill have people,young and old of all sexes living in the town. The town has produced educated sons and daughters,some living in Europe. America whilst others like me arriving and working in Sierra Leone.Iam a Police officer in other rank of Commissioner police in the Sierra Leone Police Service. People in this town live on farming and fishing

History

The History of this name dates back about 500 to 600years ago when our ancestor and founder of the settlement, a Muslim scholar by the name of Karmoh Londoie sojourned from Kankan in Guinea to that part of present day Sierra Leone. The place was a very thick forest, an island surrounded by water and infested with wild animals. He spoke to the locals he met in surrounding settlements and they gave him the place and he settled there with his wives and learning boys he was teaching them the Holy Koran

The name Tindor originated from a Mandingo/via language meaning island. The via language from Liberia was and still prevalent and has a domineering influence in that part of the country. The town/ vn,, age still carries this name today
