Summary

Hugo Devecseri arrived in Hoboken, New Jersey on October 29, 1899 from Budapest Hungary, changing his name from Devecseri to Devechery while going through immigration. He said it sounded more American. However in a bar one night he was accused of not being an American, but Hungarian because Hungarian's do not have middle names. That night Devechery became D. Vechery and it just continued from there. He never came up with an actual middle name, but used the initial D until his death December 1, 1968 at the age of 93.
