Name Origin

ORIGIN AND HISTORY OF MY VELLANKI FAMILY:
We have traced that our ancestors 400 years ago belonged to VELLANKI village of Ramannapeta Mandal PIN – 508 113, Nalgonda district. This Vellanki Village is some 16 kms from Ramoji Film City of Hyderabad. Yellanki is another village in Ramannapeta Mandal nearer to Vellanki Villege. Due to Muslim aggression our ancestors alongwith several brahmin families, walked through Bhadrachalam forests and have migrated to Visakhapatnam district, formed VELLANKI village PIN 531 163 PO Bheemunipatnam in Anandapuram Mandal on Vizag – Vizianagaram route some 30kms away from Vizag. Hence, we are called Vaidika-Telaganyulu. Some other people have migrated to Krishna District following River flow and formed another VELLANKI Villege at Veerullapadu Mandal Pin Code : 521181 Post Office Name : Juzzuru The village is located at about 45 km from Vijayawada and 12 km from Kanchikacherla. but this villege is dominated by non-brahmins.

My great-grandfathers have secured Karaneekam of PENUGOLLU-DHARMAVARAM on the border of Visakhapatnam and East Godavari Dists. and moved to Penugollu. For unknown reasons (for us), my great-grand father severed ties with other Vellanki families and moved to Pithapuram in East Godavari Dt some 150 yrs ago and we are settled there ever since and acquired properties there.
