In Galveston Edward disembarked, and did not show up for the return journey of the vessel. After a few years in the US army he started a family in Connecticut, which now has branches in New York, Florida, Texas and elsewhere. His original name was Adolf Carl Eduard von Holtz. In the US he became known as Edward Von Holtz, and sometimes as Edward Vonholtz.
