History

Before entry into the U.S., the first Yadon was Joseph Preston Yadon and he originally came from Northern Ireland in County Cork near a town called Scarva. It is likely that his family had emigrated from north central England close to Leeds where the town called Yeadon is located and Joseph's Revolutionary war records indicate that he sometimes spelled his name as Yeadon. It is unknown how many generations had been in Ireland. The family was likely one of those who is now known in Ireland as Scots Irish and it is this group that now populates much of the southern U.S. as they came there in a few waves.

Name Origin

My research indicates that the name Yeadon was actually a place name and is derived from the Anglo Saxon, Hea Dun, which means 'high hill' and the town currently sits next to a hill.
