Anthony Joseph Yaskiewicz was born on May 3, 1920 in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania to parents Edward Yaskiewicz and Helen Jankowski Yachimowski on either March 3, 1920 or May 3, 1920. He had a brother, Bernard John "Benjamin" Yaskiewicz (1921-1995). Both of Anthony's parents died while he was young. His father passed away in 1924 when Anthony was 4 and his mother passed away in 1928 when Antony was 8 years old. He lived with his maternal grandfather Augustine Yankowski and cousin Benjamin Yaskiewicz in Nanticoke, PA and attended Nanticoke schools. On December 1, 1924 (Hilda's 21st birthday) Anthony married Hilda Mildred Eckrote (1924-1983) in Drums, PA. He was 25 years old at the time. Together they had a son, William S. Yaskiewicz. He was also father to Rose Marie, Anthony Jr, and Bernard Yaskiewicz. Mr. Yaskiewicz served in the US Army from May 27, 1942 until his discharge on November 14, 1945. He was a bomb squadron specialist and received the Purple Heart. Anthony was a veteran of World War II. Anthony Yaskiewicz passed away on May 31, 1980 in Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.

Anthony J, Yaskiewicz, 59

Anthony J. Yaskiewicz, 59, Rear 516 Main St., Edwardsville, died at his home Saturday morning.
He was born in Nanticoke on May 3, 1921, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Sylvester Yaskiewicz. He attended Nanticoke schools and lived in that community most of his life.

Mr. Yasklewiez was an Army Air Force bomb squadron specialist in World War II. He received a Purple Heart.

Among the survivors are two sons, Joseph of Berwick and Robert of Nescopeck.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. today from the Edwards and Russin Funeral Home, 717 Main St., Edwardsville. Burial will be made in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Anthony J. Yaskiewicz, 59, Rear 516 Main Street, Ed-wardsville, died at his home
Saturday morning. He was born in Nanticoke on May 3, 1921, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Sylvester Yaskiewicz.

Mr. Yaskiewicz attended Nanticoke schools and lived in Nanticoke most of his life.
A veteran of World II, Mr.Yaskiewicz served in the Army Air Force unit as a bomb squadron specialist and received the Purple Heart.

Surviving are children Anthony J. Jr., Mrs. Rosemary Charneski, Michael, and Mrs.
Susan Zet, all of Wilkes-Barre; Bernard, with the U.S. Army in Germany; Mrs. Patricia Czeck, Hanover Section of Nanticoke; William S., Korn Krest; Joseph, Berwick; Lois and Theresa Yaskiewicz, both of Dallas; Robert, Nescopeck; 13 grandchildren; a brother and sister.

Funeral will be Monday at 11 from the Edwards and Russin Funeral Home, 717 Main Street, Edwardsville. A brief Blessing will be conducted and interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township.
