The Correctionville News, 21 September 1967, page 1: Alvin Thompson, son of George and Jessie Thompson, was born in Freedom, Illinois, May 6, 1876, and passed away at Sioux City September 15, 1967, aged 91 years, 4 months and 9 days. He was married to Stella Johnson October 10, 1900, at Norton, Kansas. To them ten children were born, seven sons and three daughters: Harry W., Earl R., Orville M., Charles L., George A., Clair C., Daniel C., Jessie M., Violet J., and Edith I. Three boys and one girl preceded him in death, Harry W., Orville M. and Charles L., and Jessie M. He grew up at Beaver City, Nebraska, where he farmed. In 1921 he moved to Iowa where he farmed several years and then moved to Cushing where he lived until moving to Sioux City. His wife, four sons and two daughters mourn his passing. Other survivors include one brother, Harvey Thompson of Thayer and three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Thomas and Etta Noel of Beaver City, Nebraska, and Mrs. Carrie Mayfield of Longmont, Colorado, 44 grandchildren and 52 great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 19 at the Wilson-Hull Funeral Home with Dr. Harry Whyte officiating. Burial was in the Cushing Cemetery under direction of Wilson-Hull Funeral Service.
Harvey Henry Thompson was born on September 25, 1895 in Beaver City, Nebraska United States to George W Thompson, Sr and Jessie E (Goodman) Thompson, and had siblings Etta (Thompson) Noel, Addie Jane (Thompson) Harman, Nora Bell (Thompson) Shellenbarger, Bessie Elvira (Thompson) Shellenbarger, Pearl Mae (Thompson) Livingston/Thomas, Caroline “Carrie” (Thompson) Mayfield, and Alvin Thompson. Harvey Thompson died at age 83 years old on May 19, 1979 in Afton, IA, and was buried at Greenlawn Cemetery in Bussey, Marion County. Mrs. Irving Mayfield
Mrs. Caroline Mayfield of 845 Martin St., the wife of Irving Lee Mayfield, died Friday, Nov. 12, in Colorado Springs after a long illness. She was 79 years old. The former Caroline Thompson, she was born at Beaver City, Neb., May 12, 1892. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. George Thompson. She married Roy Earl Thomas in 1913 who died in 1920. She married Irving Lee Mayfield of Arapahoe Oct. 29, 1933. They moved to Ridgeway in 1935 and lived there 13 years before coming to Longmont. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Women’s Society of Christian Service and the Rebekah Lodge. She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Eva Ambrosier of Colorado Springs; two sons, Floyd Thomas of Beaver City, and Roy Thomas of Colorado Springs; two [stepsons] Everett Mayfield of Denver and Ernest Mayfield of Anchorage, Ala.; a stepdaughter, Marjorie McMillan of Spokane, Wash.; a sister Mrs. M. S. (Pearl) Thomas of Beaver City, a brother, Harvey Thompson of Thayer, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held in Beaver City Monday. Interment was in Mount Hope Cemetery, Beaver City.
