Albert Eugene French was born on March 1, 1843 in Jonesville, Hillsdale County, Michigan United States to Thomas French and Harriet F (Pine) French, and died at age 120 years old on March 1, 1963 in Placer County, CA.

A photo of Albert Eugene French. This was 'Uncle Ab' to the Lewis children. Son of Thomas & Harriet French of England who settled in Jonesville, MI. Sargent in Co A of the 11th MI Calvary. He came to Lincoln in 1870 with his wife from Michigan & homesteaded 160 acres. His wife died in 1872 and he married Mary Barker. He pioneered sheep ranching, increased the ranch to 1680 acres, & planted oranges, plums, pears, & peaches. He named it Hillsdale Ranch after the county he was born in.
