I have no other information on this picture. It is a tintype picture that was given to me by my grandfather. He got it from his mother so I think it must be a Mitchell from South Mississippi. Any further information that anyone can offer would be great.

Confederate Veterans Reunion

The Confederate Veterans Reunion was held in Harrison in 1914. The files of the Times of September 18, 1914 had this account:

On the morning of the second day of the exConfederate Reunion last Saturday, a parade was made, ending with an automobile ride about the city.

After this a photograph was made of the Camp in a body, standing on and around the north steps of the court house.

In the afternoon addresses were made by Judge E.G. Mitchell, Troy Pace, Mrs. Minnie Helm and others. Mrs. Harvey Lewis read an original poem — a tribute to those who wore the Gray, and the Daughters of the Confederacy, led by Mrs. J. E. Andrews and Misses Nona and lnez Williford, sang “Maryland, My Maryland.”

Most of the people are identified but several are not. If you can identify them, call Dr. Troy Coffman of Harrison, who furnished the photo.

This is James/Joseph, John or Henry Mitchell - one of my great grandfather's brothers - just don't know which.

Does any one know who this is, other than that he's a Mitchell?

Photo taken in 1890s, most likely after 1893. Assume the man is a Mitchell, possibly the son of James/Joseph, Henry, or John Mitchell, my great-grandfather's brothers. There is also the possibility that the woman is an England, or related to the England family.

Does anyone recognize this family?

Written on the back was "Granddad Arthur" whose parents are William Stokes Mitchell and Sarah Elizabeth Jones. This photo was with a group of Mitchell photo's found on the side of the road near Asher, Pottawatomie Co., OK. We'd like to return to the Mitchell family.

While walking along highway 39 near Asher, Pottawatomie Co., Oklahoma, my mother, found an envelope full of very old photographs. They obviously had not been there long, she thought perhaps someone put them on top of their car and had forgotten about them before driving off.

Our hopes were to locate descendants of these persons photographed and return them to their family members. Someone lost these photos and we wanted to return them.

The photo is of Arthur Mitchell perhaps before he was married.

Written on the back was "My mother and fathers Wedding Picture" but the man is clearly Arthur Mitchell whose parents are William Stokes Mitchell and Sarah Elizabeth Jones. We found Arthur with a wife named Sallie in the census records. This photo was with a group of Mitchell photo's found on the side of the road near Asher, Pottawatomie Co., OK. We'd like to return to the Mitchell family.

Card given by the Congregational Sunday School in Douglass, MO.

There is nothing written on the back of this photo. The only identification came from other photo's of the same or similar girl in the other photo's in the envelope.

The photo has also been professionally painted over the tin type. It may have some Georgia (GA) ties.
