Marguerite Young Wishart was born around 1898 to James Wishart and Janet (O’Neil) Wishart.
During World War II, she served in the Women’s Royal Air Force. After the war, she held various positions, including manager of a Leith ballroom, bookkeeper for a health food chain, and business manager for Scottish comedian Tommy Morgan, known as "Mr. Glasgow."
She married Captain Arthur H. Alvis, and they had a child, Baron Terence Alvis of Lee.
Shortly before her death, Marguerite formed a whisky brokerage company with her son Terence.
Marguerite Alvis passed away at the age of 75 on July 21, 1974.
