Mary McCready was one of the Irish Famine Orphans on the ship Derwent. She had never been in Service prior to leaving her native place of County Galway; she was Roman Catholic; . (Nominal Passenger List - VPRS 14/P0000/000)
Mary was received into the Immigration Depot of Melbourne, Australia, on 4th March 1850 and left there on 9th March. She was engaged as an Apprentice by William Ashby of Little Lonsdale Street, Melbourne for 2 years at £6 per annum. (Disposal List - VPRS 14/P0000/0006)
