Dame Judith Anderson
Dame Judith Anderson was born in Australia but did most of her acting in America, winning two Emmy Awards and a Tony Award. She was also nominated for a Grammy Award and an Academy Award.
Married twice, she said that "neither experience was a jolly holiday." Her first husband was Benjamin Harrison Lehmann, a UC Berkeley English professor. Her second husband was Luther Greene, a theatrical producer. Both marriages were relatively brief.
She was named a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in 1960.
