Doris Fogler on Rusty Pete

Great Aunt Doris Fogler atop Rusty Pete. Doris was an artist and the hand-color-tinting was her own.

I'm guessing that this foto is from the 1920s.

I love this photo! Was Rusty Pete her horse? And was she from a farming family or was she at a "dude ranch"?

[external link] I made a movie using her foto album and you can see it here.

Her background? Neither farming nor dude ranch. Doris was from Billings Dad did bookkeeping, Mama did sewing commissions for people; they lived in town; I don't know how she practiced her horseSkillz Doris was a horse woman; she later (after this foto was taken, but I don't know how long after) married a rancher in Big Timber, MT.

Thank you so much, Susan. The links worked! Her history is just fascinating. I shouldn't be surprised that she liked horses - we're in the middle of Silicon Valley and my neice is an avid horsewoman! I'm going to your links and really look at everything. It looks like you have some wonderful photos to share! ; )
