John Galloway Lynn 1841-1927
Private John Galloway Lynn, born July 25, 1841, was the son of John Galloway and Rebecca Beall Singleton Lynn. He enlisted August 8, 1863, in Rockingham County, Virginia. He was attached to Co. L of McNeill's Rangers. Lynn served as a guerilla or Partisan Ranger in the general area of Cumberland, Maryland. He was captured in Hardie County, Virginia, February 5, 1865 and held at Ft. McHenry, Maryland. Noted on his record was the remark "Guerilla" not to be exchanged during war. Did not serve in the capture of Gen. Cook and Kelly, he had been in town, Cumberland, on leave visiting with his family and was arrested. South T. Lynn, (GN)
