Joseph Jacob Kroetsch was born 20 Sep 1849 in Bamberg, Ontario to John Baptist Kroetsch and Catherine Batte. He married Angeline Chartrand in 1871 in Bruce Co., Ontario. They immigrated to Kansas. He died in 1897 from heat stroke while helping a friend shuck wheat in Illinois. J.J. Kroetsch is buried in the Catholic Cemetery in Plainville, Kansas.

Joseph married Angeline Chartrand in 1871 in Bruce Co., Ontario. They immigrated to Kansas. He died in 1897 from heat stroke while helping a friend shuck wheat in Illinois. Joseph left a substantial life insurance policy. His wife, Angeline used the proceeds wisely and financed some of her sons in building a lumber mill in Idaho. Their eldest son, John Baptiste Henry Kroetch (1874 - 1945) is the great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather of the family that began AncientFaces.
