Photo of kind-faced English matron from 1800s. Photography by London and Paris Photographic Co., 90 Newgate Street, London.
This kind-faced woman is a mystery relative! Have you seen her in your family photo albums of VALLIS, PALMER, PICKERING, HEDGES, TAYLOR or CUTTER? This photo was a treasured keepsake of my great-grandmother, Louisa Ann PALMER VALLIS, born 1858 in Swanbourne, Buckinghamshire, England. Louisa married John VALLIS, born 1849, from Middlesex/Poplar-Millwall. They married in Lincoln, Nebraska USA in 1887. Both had family who remained in England.
