This is a portrait of my paternal grandmother, Lee Emma (Hodges) Hogan taken in Bluefield WV circa 1900. She was Oscar Elbert Hogan's 2nd wife and the mother of his only child, Charles Elbert Hogan. Lee Emma's parents were Henry S. and Mary (Angle) Hodges, both of the Boones Mill area of Franklin Co. VA. The Hodges family, including sister Mary "Mollie" and brother Thomas Henry, moved to Bluefield WV in the late 1800s. The family lost contact with their only other child, Joseph, who would have been in his mid-20s around the time they moved.
