Mary Nelson (Matson)Brown born 10/27/1877 in Greencastle Indiana with only child Beatrice Brown born 8/26/1910 in Chicago. "Nellie" was the daughter of Congressman Courtland C. Matson and a notable opera singer in Indianapolis & Greencastle, IN. and Chicago, IL., she married writer, Charles Walter Brown, son of Professor Isaac Hinton Brown. Nellie developed a hernia picking up her 5 month old grandchild (my mother)and died during surgery.
