Nils Ivarsen Evjen Fosmoe & Susanna Jonasdatter Nessan
This is a photo of my great great grandparents who went by the surname of Ivarson/Iverson in America. My gg grandfather was the organizer and leader of the very first group to leave the Meraker area of Norway for America on April 3, 1854. This photo was taken in part of the wedding of my great grandparents, Nels Nelson and Marit (Mary) Aspaas Nelson. Our Nelson surname derived from the given name Nils, my gg grandfather. His sons were the sons of Nils bringing about the name Nilssen. But in America it was written by the census taker as Nelson and has been that spelling ever since.
Date & Place: at Sioux Falls Photography Studio in Mapleton Township/Minnehaha County, Dakota Territory USA
