Perry Abernathy (1847-1923) of Indiana, Missouri, and Kansas #1
Marlene Hudson sent me this picture. She does not know who is who in this picture and neither do I. The only names listed on the back of the original picture were Perry Abernathy and Frank Norval. The Norvals were of Ralls County and Putnam County, Missouri, so I think this picture was taken in Missouri.
Frank Norval's birth name was Francis Marion Norval. He was born in 1847 to Parker Norval and Ann (Seely). He married Mahala Jane Bradshaw in 1876. She was the daughter of William Bradshaw and Mary Polly Kirby. I believe Perry is the man on the left, because his name was on the back of four pictures Marlene sent, and his family was pointed out on one of them. Here he has his hat beside him, so he must be visiting one or all of the others. Perry was the son of Kelam Abernathy and his second wife, Elizabeth "Betsy" Ann (Penner). The older man sitting next to Perry may have been his father. On 4 Aug 1865, Perry Abernathy married Susan Ann Norval, the daughter of Parker Norval and Ann (Seely). On 21 March 1878, Perry married Melissa J. Campbell, the daughter of John Dunbar Campbell and Margaret E.(Cox). After Melissa died 17 Jan 1914, and some time before the 1920 census, Perry married a Mattie, whose surname is unknown at this time. Perry's father married Ann (Seely) Norval in 1860. She was his third wife. For more information, please visit my Rootsweb site, bcarl140.

I think the man on the left is Perry Abernathy. I think Frank Norval is one of the men on the right, and I think the other man who looks like him could be either his older brother, George Washington Norval, or his younger brother, Andrew Jackson Norval. Is the older man next to Perry his father, Kelam Abernathy?
