This is Robert Dennis Murray, a Kentucky lawyer. He was born in Munfordville, moved to Hodgenville, and then to Elizabethtown, Kentucky. In Hodgenville, he was married to Betty Churchill, of the Churchills who owned the property on which Churchill Downs is located. One of their children, Walter Brown Murray, b. Aug. 28, 1864, d. Oct. 26, 1947, and born in Hodgenville, about a mile from the birthplace of Abraham Lincoln. Robert D. Murray's grandfather, Charles Murray, a Revolutionary Soldier, was born in Northern Ireland in 1748, and died in Munfordville, Kentucky in 1828. Robert Murray died in 1879, while attempting to recover from cholera.
