Sarah Catherine Stevens was born March 6, 1852 in the area now known as Spring Mill State Park. She was the daughter of Timothy and Elizabeth Walker Hixon.
She and her twin sister Angeline(Hixon)Stevens were the first twins to be born in Lawrence County, Indiana. She married Joseph Stevens on October 30, 1873. She resided on a farm east of Mitchell, Indiana all her life. She died August 28, 1941, and is buried with Joseph in the Stevens Cemetary, one mile east of Mitchell, Indiana.
